Montreal, March 18, 2009: Bowmore Exploration Ltd., (TSXV- BOW) (“Bowmore” or the “Company”) reports results of its first phase drill program from the joint ventured Ste-Marguerite gold property, located in the Gaspé peninsula, Quebec.
Eight (8) holes were drilled in two previously unexplored areas on the southern side of the basalt / sedimentary rock contact, where most of the historical mineralization is known to occur. Surface arsenic and gold anomalies extend along a strike length of at least 500 metres in both areas. A total of 916 metres were drilled and 232 samples were taken for assaying at ALS Chemex in Val d’Or, Quebec. Favorable quartz veins and brecciated fault zones were intersected in most holes, and anomalous gold values (0.05 g/t to 0.95 g/t Au over 1 to 10 metres) were intersected in six of the eight holes.
The multiple-stage epithermal quartz-sulfide-gold mineralization of the Ste-Marguerite property, Quebec, was explored mainly in the 1990’s and early 2000’s by Ressources Appalaches. The property is located in the Gaspe Peninsula of Quebec, and is described in a NI 43-101 report filed by Bowmore in 2008 and authored by Mr. Michel Malo, a Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101.
Significant historical drilling results include 27 intersections of 0.7 to 7.5 metres @ 1 to 6 g/t Au with higher grade values of 11.1 and 20.0 g/t Au over 1.0 and 1.45 m, respectively.
Significant historical surface sampling returned between 4.9 to 17.8 g/t Au, mainly in quartz-pyrite-galena-sphalerite-chalcopyrite, quartz,-pyrite-arsenopyrite and quartz veins.Values of up to 29.9 g/t Au and 500 g/t Au have also been recorded.
In 2003, Exploration Puma carried out induced polarization surveys that detected IP anomalies in several unexplored areas. In 2005, a 350 metre drilling program on the Fraser showing returned between 1.6 and 11.1 g/t Au over lengths of 0.3 to 2 metres.
Following signing of a joint venture agreement with Exploration Puma, Bowmore completed this first phase drilling program on the Ste-Marguerite property in the fall of 2008. Current results will be interpreted and evaluated before management approves a second phase of drilling on Ste-Marguerite.
All NQ core assays were obtained by standard 30 g fire assaying-AA finish at ALS Chemex laboratories in Val d’Or, Quebec. Mr. Robert Wares, P. Geo. and Director of Bowmore, is the Qualified Person responsible for the technical information reported in this news release.
